I am Richard Purchase a retired gentleman who is 66 years old.

My whole working life has been in one form or another in shipping / logistics. I was at sea as a Navigation Officer with Safmarine for 5 years. When I came ashore I worked in general ships agency and as a ships planner for many years. Then I worked as a Shipping Manager for Columbus Stainless, a subsidiary of the Spanish company, Acerinox. So I used to travel to Madrid and Algeciras twice a year for a few years. Then I moved back to Shipping Lines where I worked for various container lines: Kien Hung Lines [that was later taken over by Hamburg Sud and then by Maersk] Mitsui OSK Lines and PIL.

I have travelled in Europe extensively and loved to go snow skiing in Courchevel, France and have lived in England [1 year] Maputo, Mozambique [7 years – Eu falo muito pouco Português, mas infelizmente não falo Espanhol.] and Cairo [6 months].

Now that I am retired, I spend a lot of time riding my Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra and BMW 1200 GS Adventure. I also have a lot of spare time so I have decided to offer my service to teach conversational English.
